Hey, I had the exact same problem, if you look a couple of topics down. I havn't exactly figured out what happened yet but heres what i think I did.

Install instructions that comes with the shoutbox it says to run the SQL installer FIRST. What I did was install all of the other files THEN run the SQL installer. Did you happen to do the same thing?

i'm not sure if this would affect it but i'm reinstalling it, running the SQL installer first just to make sure.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! I've been experimenting all week, i found out what was wrong.

My first hunch was right, you need to run the SQL installer FIRST without any shoutbox files installed at all. After you run it, you want to delete the SQL installer. Then you then install all of the files in the public_html folder to your nuke root folder. After that you can change the back round colors, HOWEVER, I still can not figure out whats wrong with the backround, up, down, and pause images to be able to be edited.

So you can make the text appear, but you can't change the color of the arrows or anything, which is a problem for me because my backround is black and my arrows are black.

If anyone knows how to fix this problem please post.

To change the colour of the arrows and the pause button....

Goto into the admin section,

Click on 'Shout Box' -

In 'Shout Box administration' click on 'Themeing' -

Look down the page for 'Theme Images'

Find your theme and change the 'Box Arrows' to whatever colour you want them to be Wink

jldrake, heres the best thing I can tell you to do.

Go into your website admin thing (not phpnuke, the actual hosting site). Meanwhile redownload the shoutbox (that is if you already got rid of it). Open up the folder on your computer. Then compare the files in that folder with the files in your PHP-Nuke directory. Delete everything that has to do with the shoutbox. Then follow these steps.

(Since i'm not very smart and I figured this out, i'm going to go into a lot of detail cause i remembered i got mad because of the lack of detail in peoples instructions)

1. Upload SB_SQL_installer.php located in the sql folder of your download to your nuke root folder.
2. Go to your site and login as an admin.
3. Go to http://www.your-phpnuke-address.com/SB_SQL_installer.php
4. Follow the instructions on screen.
5. Go into your WEBSITE admin panel.
6. Delete the SB_SQL_installer.php file that you uploaded in step 1
7. Install all files in the public_html folder of your download
8. Login to your PHP-Nuke admin
9. Active Module Shoutbox.
10. Create a block (file 'Shout Box')
11. To change colors go into your shoutbox administration - themeing and edit the colors there (if you don't know html color codes click here)
12. If you want to adjust the colors of your arrows, follow Scropions instructions above.

Oh, btw scorpian, your way to change the arrows doesn't work. Everytime I go in and change it a different color (I chose white against my black backround) I go back to the homepage to find all of my blocks placed on the right (also where the shoutbox is located) have completely disappeared, to get it back up i had to completely delete and reupload block-Shout_Box.php agai
