I know that under the admin panel, you are able to set the default theme and hit the check box if you want users to be able to change the theme to whatever they want, but for some reason, it's not allowing anyone to do so. I've tried changing the theme to the default and then let members try to switch, but then they can't change from the default. Does anyone know of a bug with PHPNuke 8.1 that causes this problem?

Firstly i wouldnt use 8.1.

And secondly ask them to click 'Account' and then select the 'themes' icon in there, then they should be able to change it.

I am having the same trouble. Themes can't be changed anywhere by anyone including me (the admin). The only way I can do it is manually through the database. I have also recently installed phpnuke 8.1.

Sounds to me like its an 8.1 problem then, get Ravens Nuke.... It is more stable, secure, user friendly, easier to use, more features (as standard) and IMHO the only Nuke release to go for especially as 2.20 is coming out around the 15th of this month w00t!

I had someone whom codes some PHP modules run through Your Account/index.php run through the coding and he found the problem and fixed it for me.

He gave me these instructions:

open your modules/Your Account/index.php file and do a search and find the phrase function savetheme($user_id, $theme) {

After you find this phrase, look one line below where you should see this:

global $user, $cookie, $userinfo, $user_prefix, $db, $module_name;

Change replace the line with this one below.

global $user, $cookie, $userinfo, $user_prefix, $db, $module_name, $prefix;

Then upload it back to it's proper location and your set.

Ill be honest tho , ive never updated anything in my life :) well not site wise anyway, just wondering what will happen to mods and stuff you have already on site.
