Please keep on topic peeps, there is no point banning anyone these days because there are ways around if you know what your doing. Im not going to ban Bayler because its basically freedom of speech, whilst i would like to remind users that flaming other people is pointless on forums, because it gets no where and the thread just gets bombarded by people voicing there opinions or should that be frustration..anyways

Back on to the topic... There is no point installing PHPBB3 onto Nuke, i have been thinking of the pros and cons and its just not worth it, even with the bridge that has been released its still dumb... The only way to use PHPBB3 would be to use it standalone and dump PHPNuke altogether, or a complete port of PHPBB3 to BBToNuke, but why ? PHPBB2 has been converted to BBToNuke and works just fine !

Thank you. Which is why Technocrat took the path that he took. ;) He wants to build a CMS based off of phpBB3 and that is his choice. I like the idea, and I might use it when he finished, or at least test it. lol

The only things Bayler is right about is that phpbb2 and phpbb3 are a bit different. Phpbbnuke which is used in most or all of the nuke distro's are more advanced than phpbb3 is, Although there are still a few new features in phpbb3. You will see those more clearly if you only used phpbb2.

OFF TOPIC:
As for Nuke Evolution.

There were several bugs in 2.10. Not just the 1 that Bayler claims to have fixed on his own which still exists in his version. He says its a session issue. Well, it was, however, he can't tell you want the bug did to the site yet he can tell you he fixed it. I find that interesting. I also find that always telling people you have the only working copy yet its not been released anywhere leads me to the point that Bayler didn't really fix anything. When I asked for a copy months ago there was no edits he could tell me about. He forgot what was changed and so on.

Bayler also keeps telling people that 2 other developers tried to take over the project and couldn't fix it but he did. Well, I have been accused of being one of those people. I find that funny since I was a beta tester with the evo team working on 2.10. It didn't really change hands as bayler claims either. The problem is that Bayler doesn't really know whats going on. I don't feel its needed to explain my point here much further since most of you can just go READ the nuke evolution forums and find the information you need. I can tell you that the original team members are still working on 2.10 while other members of the original 2.10 dev team are working on other projects as it clearly states in the forums at http://nuke-evolution.com. The reason for the change in dev priority is probably based on the fact that phpbb2 will be dropped in early 2009 and will no longer be supported by the phpbb team. This is the reason for the phpbb3 evolution that you can also read about and find more detailed information on at nuke-evolution.com. As for the "New" developers that Bayler claims tried to fix 2.10 and failed leaving him with the "ONLY WORKING COPY" is simply an under educated statement which in fact is false.

Now, Bayler has the so called "only working copy of nuke evolution 2.10". Well, he tried to sell it. He said he encoded parts of it where he made changes (core edits) and this is simply against the GNU/GPL copyright laws. Nuke Evolution is an open source project and Bayler cannot legally keep the source code from anyone. If anyone at all requests a copy of those files he legally has to turn them over. He can and should be reported for breaking the copyright laws. I mean, lets be honest. Bayler fights with all these people because he things they won't protect their work. Yet he also works on an open source project. He also claims to want to steal custom, commercial themes and scripts because nobody wants to play with him anymore.

As for DFG. Well, I will agree that the dev team did suck for almost a year. Not the whole team. Lonestar is a very good coder. I can even say good enough that the *BANNED WORD* coder on the dev team at the time ripped code from lonestars mods to make his work better or at times even work at all. However, we are in much better shape now that we have gotten rid of the bad seed and coder that we had that time. I can agree it was making the development team at DFG lack in producing quality mods and addons that the nuke community deserves. On the plus side, that coder is no longer at DFG and we are doing well.

I do think its sad that the same crap we had to deal with has been dropped on the doors of clan-themes. Not as bad as it would be if the owners here didn't want or allow this type of disrespect on these forums. However, they knew bayler before he came here and they still allow him to talk out his arse on these forums. I don't think this community or any other nuke community deserves to have to listen to this crap and at some point it would be nice if Ped or Floppy took the same step most other quality nuke communities have taken and ban bayler.

As for the back door.

Bayler had a great idea for helping the nuke community of designers and developers. However, this idea did at one point turn from helping the community to being a tool to control and destroy it. That was the turn that sent me packing and closing the nuke-blacklist site. I fully support protecting designers and developers work. I do not support having remote access to everyone's sites. Bayler lost it at futurenuke because they wouldn't let him embed code into the the 7.6b5 release so it could be controlled and report user ip and email addresses back to the blacklist system. He also got pissed when Technocrat saw the good points in idea but also knew the risk and control Bayler could gain from a system like this. So, nobody supported baylers idea anymore and he went on a hate nuke rampage. At one point he told me was going to steal all of my themes, mods and so on. He was going to do this to all the designers and developers of the nuke community and release or sell there work on a warez site. You don't have to believe me. Most of the nuke community know's bayler claimed and did post on several sites that he was selling the rights to the "ONLY WORKING COPY OF EVO 2.10 and EVO CLANS 2.10.

I think its time to drop this topic for me. I already know bayler won't let it go and this will just cause more drama for the queen to stir up. I also know that he probably has a few followers and supporters. Including but not limited to those who think its just fine to bash people in public forums...

From what I can gather, Baylor has a great mind just not a great ethic. Dont know him personally or you for that matter, but my opinion is that this source was founded with the ideal of being free (much like Unix/ Linux) and is now being Bill Gates pounded by someone. I have very much enjoyed every version of nuke (regardless of the imperfections). I dont condone the flaming of anyone for whatever reason, but this sure as hell aint flaming. That entire thing was founded on researchable facts. Intellect doesn't override fundamentals. Once again this is off the main topic. There needs to be a discussion set aside about this particular thing. Just my 2 cents though.

I really don't know any of you but i love the site and all if offers the nuke community. Seems Bayler leaves a trail of hate from other post I've read in these forums. Worse part is, this topic was never really going to go anywhere. Thanks killigan for your insight....hopefully one day there will be a nuke version with phpbb3 but until then, the bridge is working great for my site. Cheers!
