its not to hard, dont make your first template to complicated ...
All you need is a 4 squares really 1 header, 1 footer, 1 for left/right blocks and 1 other for center block
make your overall psd, then slice it up ! and start coding in html and make your theme.php the first is always the hardest but when you have done it youl be like omg is that it !!
The reason there isnt a good theme tutorial is because
1 ) there is far to many steps to talk about
2) not all themes are all the same
3) you will need knowledge of basic html before we started and photoshop of course and that cant be taught ! you must already know it !
I could make some thing one day but like a few of the others ive seen it would be very basic for those reasons
Now if you were to forget about the forums ... wow i could easily knock out a theme in about 3 hours now ! its the forums that take the 3-4 days ! lol
