i should delete this thread, it just gets me even more wound up every time some one posts or reminds me im being ripped of and there isnt much i can do about it until the dam contract is up... not for another 7-8 months !

I checked my connection status through the BT modem and it was saying i was getting the following

i ran some online tests and it said i was getting

I then ran BT's own online speed test http://speedtester.bt.com/ and it said i was getting

Ive done these comparisons with BT whilst there on the other end of the phone and they say funnily enough that there's is always correct ! Confused

hmm but ive ran the same test with over 4 different online speed tests and there all saying the same ? so who is right ?

bit of a gay reply but www.speedtest.net and http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ are the same speed test bbmax bought it off http://www.ookla.com/ witch own speedtest.net :D

my 25 - 33mb download spped. cable uncapped! Posted: Sun Jun 17, 2007 10:10 am

well i got to say it guys, but bt are poo (thats putting it light)

im on ntl cable well its now virgin. my speeds are between 25-33mb. of course this is not the package they offer. i uncapped my modem and cloned my mac with a motorola surfboard 4100 and i went from reasonable speed to silly speeds. if i run my connection through my wireless i only hit about 5-11mb but through ethernet it goes like crazy. if i use another virgin modem mac i only hit about 9-15mb through eithernet and less through wireless.

so if you do mod your modem go for the moto 4100 because 9 out of 10 times, they are used for serious speeds so your assured a nice bump-up.

there are a few links on there to try also.

the site above also has a proxy server list which is ideal if your a big downloader from sites such as rapidshare or megaupload as you can bypass the waiting period and download as much as you like without paying...but thats another "HOW TO" guys Angel
