I was wondering whats the secret behind creating a theme i would like to know so i could help design some for clan themes since i have a talent inside of cs2 and cs3. I see this topic posted all over the place. And i guess it would be cool for someone to come up with a 'step-by-step' rather than a tutorial.

There are a few tutorials out there but like Ped and others have said, the best way to start out is to grab a fairly basic theme (to begin with) and edit the images and then move on from there... You can play around also on an already made theme, as if you break the code.. it doenst matter.

I have 3 themes made by myself. And there pretty basic, but the only thing to do is keep fiddling with different things.

Tutorials are ok to get the gist of it... but just get out there bud and mess one up Serious 2

I taught myself, you cant really do a tutorial to be honest, there is just to many steps involved ....

it is true if u wanna learn how to make a theme u really need a video tutorial. It is not possible to lear with pdf files or something else. Believe me and first of all u need to learn about photoshop, etc. very complicated. Good luck Embarrased

i know almost everything there is too know about photoshop xD. Just not coding and all of that crap i never took the time to learn im only 14 guys lol i still got lots of time to learn how to theme it up and hopefully i will learn very soon.

I think we came to the conclusion that it would be best to pick up and already made theme and have a play with it... and move on from there.

So whats the easiest way? like make it in photo shop then slice it up and then put it all together in dream weaver or something like that?

I dont quite understand where you get the story.html and the others from. Yet alone try and code the crap for it, but im sure i can copy and paste the important stuff.

Also there should be a wiki page for this type of thing. If everyone just threw in there little tips on how to do this we could do a make shift guide that had everyones input.

Can someone send me a link or somewhere to go to mess around with an already pre-made template. I also want to learn how to code/script a template because i want to make one for my website. I'm focusing on a cool war theme with the news and stuff like that in the center of the page, and on the left and right hand side of the page is navigation. If someone out there could help me learn how to do something along these lines 1 on 1 through xfire or something i'd be very thankful. Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.
