Hiya,

I couldn't find anything on this, so here goes my question.

I'd like to have a block/hack that allows me to have phpbb3 posts as news on the phpnuke homepage. That is, instead of using the phpnuke news module, I'd write a news piece in a "news" forum in phpbb3 and that would appear on the phpnuke homepage.

Now, I've managed to include a block on the homepage that shows the last five posts (thread title, views, poster, etc) from the phpbb3, so I reckon it should be possible to do what I want to.

The idea, I think, is that the new block would just read from the "news" forum, so every time I posted there, the latest post would become the latest news on the homepage.

You know what I mean? Confused

Is there anything like that available?

You have a different table in your database for posts and topics.
And in the topics table there is topic_first_post_id,
that way you can select the first post of the latest topics.

So it's possible, but I don't think there's a block for it yet.

In phpbb2 the table is called nuke_bbtopics

So what you want is that only the latest news posts shows?
If yes I can make a block for you, it very simple and not a lot of work.

See, the latest news block is just posts from a forum. You specify the forum ID in the admin, and everything you post there becomes a news item on the frontpage.

I'd like a block that reads from the phpbb3 forum I choose and post the news on the phpnuke frontpage, showing the title (headline) and the text.

It would replace the phpnuke news block

Yeah, only one is fine. Although it would be cool if I could have the first one with text and five below that are only "headlines".

I can work with the db, yeah.
