would anyone know of a different phrase that I could use for a search to resolve this? I have been looking for the last couple days off and on and it would seem that I am the only one having the issue. Guess I am just special that way :)

thank you for any input

Post forum question Posted: Tue Jun 17, 2008 11:11 pm

yes....Solution is Simple

Its been stated time and time again ( Nuke 8.1 ) is filled with bugs...and wont be fixed till later releases...

the term ( Newer is Better ) is a load of crap when dealing with Technology, this includes scripting...

Vista, initial release was buggy as hell, yet everyone just had to have it..so they get to deal with the bugs..
XP was the same way, but has become more stable over the years because its had proper time to be tested and fixed.

Same Goes with CMS releases:

Evo 2.0.7 is no exception of that rule...its got bugs...yet everyone just HAS to have whats new!

Solution is simple..either live with the bugs of Nuke 8.1, or fix them yourself or you could use and older version that works correctly!

You will not recieve help from me if i have to go digging for your CMS information and version, If i have to take the time to play 21 questions, then you can take the time to google! No Copyright, no support either!

Bayler:
I dont think it is nuke, i think it is something with bbcodebox. I have tried this with several versions of nuke and I have had no different changes.
I am no programmer, but i have looked for a long time to try to see where bbcode looks for the subject input variable to place it with a reply and I cannot find where it is doing this.

I didnt ask for you to solve my problem for me, but for some direction to where I may find the infomation to get this taken care of. I have look on alot of web sites, and alot that are running 8.1 with no problems. Yet nobody can give me any idea to why it would happen. You are the first one, and you blame the version for the site. This is the easy way out.
I am glad you have the skills to resolve this for yourself, I will keep looking to resolve mine, and hope to share the information here so anyone else will not feel intimidated by asking.

Post forum question Posted: Wed Jun 18, 2008 6:02 pm

what we are trying to tell you is that the BBCode mod requires integrated files from the core of the nuke distro...

Those Files need to be updated to correctly work with that mod...heres the pit fall of doing so..

Say your fixing this BBcode Mod so that the Forums will work properly with the updated version...If you DO manage to fix it, you will more then likely cause issues with say, the NEWS FAQ editor, or any other feature that requires this mod...

Fixing it will only fix the issue in ONE area...it MAY/WILL cause issues in other areas...

Since most developers dont really support the latest version of standard nuke, your not likely going to receive support to fix only one area, when it may ultimately create issues in other areas and we would be responsible to fix those issues because WE helped create them by helping you upgrade the mod!

does that kinda explain it better ?

as for this mod specifically, its nothing more the a WYSIWYG editor thats so integrated into the distro, that its used by several modules..
Im not very familiar with this Mod because im an Evo User which incorporates this mod plus additional features...And because im using the advanced features...ive not had time nor would even need to even look into this mod because it is inferior to the service i use already...hence why the statement was made that if you REALLY just have to have this mod...i would suggest transferring to a different Distro that supplies it by default!

I see what your saying, and i am greatfull for your time to respond. I feel that you are not seeing what I am saying, so if i am repeating myself I am sorry, it is just from your answer I am either not seeing what your saying or you do understand what I am asking.

I run phpnuke 8.1
I dont have alot of mods or blocks installed - just a few that has what I want
I have the bbcodebox upgrade mod installed and working

At this point, it is to say that I have everything working. My security, i am getting no bug issues, the blocks and mods are all working fine, and have been for 2 months now.

It was brought to my attention that when someone replied to a post on my forums, it would not paste the main post in the subject "re:mainheader". This is not a major issue, it is not a bug that is keeping anything from working. I am just trying to find out why it wont! Trying to find out why, is not going to cause my site to crash, become unstable, unuseable.

I understand that someone did the work to get it to work with nuke, and as you stated it worked in an older more stable version, and i replied that i tried the older versions and the same thing would happen for me, so it has not answered my question, it just tells me that what i am running is not good enough to find an answer.

ok...i get what your saying...yes..i misunderstood....im digging through one of my sites...chances are...its going to be something extremely stupid like a .tpl file missing a variable !

Again, im terribly sorry for misunderstanding your problem...like i said...ill dig around my own forums..see what files are controlled by the subject variable.

One question though..is it submitting BLANK, or just the SUBJECT title ?

ok...figured it out... lets just make sure all the variables are assigned...

lets start with the posting.php file located:
modules / Forums / posting.php

Located in that file find the following lines ( Prolly wont be exact, but will be close ):
Code:

else if ( $mode == 'reply' )
        {
                $user_sig = ( $userdata['user_sig'] != '' ) ? $userdata['user_sig'] : '';

                $username = ( $userdata['session_logged_in'] ) ? $userdata['username'] : '';
                $subject = '';
/*****[BEGIN]******************************************
 [ Mod:     Automatic Subject on Reply         v1.0.0 ]
 ******************************************************/
                $subject = $post_info['topic_title'];
                if ( !preg_match('/^Re:/', $subject) && strlen($subject) > 0)
                {
                        $subject = 'Re: ' . $subject;
                }
/*****[END]********************************************
 [ Mod:     Automatic Subject on Reply         v1.0.0 ]
 ******************************************************/

Let me know what you have thats similar to those lines!

this is the closest i have found

Code:

else if ( $mode == 'reply' )
   {
      $user_sig = ( $userdata['user_sig'] != '' ) ? $userdata['user_sig'] : '';

      $username = ( $userdata['session_logged_in'] ) ? $userdata['username'] : '';
      $subject = '';
      $message = '';

   }
   else if ( $mode == 'quote' || $mode == 'editpost' )
   {
      $subject = ( $post_data['first_post'] ) ? $post_info['topic_title'] : $post_info['post_subject'];
      $message = $post_info['post_text'];

      if ( $mode == 'editpost' )

this is just a few lines after, if you need more, i can, or i can attach the posting file here.
I have not tried to add what you have there yet, since i want to make sure that is what I should do.
