Post Transparent Themes Possibilities Posted: Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:55 pm

I have a question for you all and it would help if you can cast your vote and or leave a message please.

I have a great theme that is slightly different from all the previous themes in that it uses a lot of png graphics instead of gif or jpeg.

The main advantage is that png graphics allow the designer to use transparent modes properly without any little white edges around graphics. I will leave a picture for you so you know what I mean.

The problem is that Internet Explorer 6 and below do not handle the png graphics well and fill the transparent areas with white or cream and make it look bad. IE 7 works perfectly as does the main rival Firefox.

Most gamers and clan members have the most up to date versions of web browsers like ie and Firefox so it shouldn't be a problem.

What do you think? With transparent themes the possibilities are endless.

Did you get it working in the end ?

The script should be added to the nuke cms as standard, its only a 2 minute mod.

I think its a great idea and will open up a few posibilties, my only complaint about the script is that it loads the images first then the script kicks in, so inicially you get a pants site for that brief second or too then bang its there.

That white effect around the gif images is called "halos"

And the png mod

I know some Joomla themes have managed to incorporate the script so we should be able too ...

Hmm sounds very internesting, transparent images... I would like to see some demonstrations on it rather than an entire theme if you know what I mean...If its never been done I think you should try it cause as they said it will open more doors into Theme creations...

Ahhh I get it now!! Yea this will fix ALOT of problems mate. You see this problem alot of the times when your using certain topic icons or ranks and they say " Dark backgrounds only" and you put it on a white one and edges looks white or whatever... So yea I think this will be a nice idea to try..

Yup thats the "halo" i did a tut on how to get by that if your making a theme. Heefy was having problems getting the script installed into the theme, it MUST sit inside the <head> tags

If you view the page source here at clan themes you will see the script in green starting at line 34 that is added to the phpnuke cms though and not the theme...

So if we can get it working from the theme (ive only tried adding it once via the include) it might make a few things easier !
