This is a simple tutorial or guidelines on how to install a image gallery or photo gallery module inside phpnuke CMS.


PHPNuke image gallery:

Phpuke image gallery or phpnuke photo gallery is a phnuke addon or module which is targeted for webmasters who would like to share their image collection with their visitors. There are many types free phpnuke image gallery available. Gallery has intuitive photo management administration and you can use it into your own website no matter whether you're running a small personal site or a large community portal. Gallery software offers a rich set of features like: uploading of ZIP files (full of photos or video), easy integration with other software, slideshow options, etc. Most of these image galleries only require PHP server (older image gallery like v1.4.4pl4 does not require MySQL) rest of them require MySQL database too.

The latest version of image gallery:

The most popular phpnuke image gallery is menalto’s image gallery. This is the same phpnuke image gallery module that we are using at phpnuke-downloads.com gallery. Menalto’s image gallery script cannot be installed directly to phpnuke CMS. PHPNuke users need to download the converted version of this gallery module from NukeGallery.net. The latest version of this image gallery is v2.2.1 which was released on 25th March 2007. Visit Menalto’s Image Gallery website at Gallery latest release for more details about this version. On the other hand this image gallery is available for phpnuke users at PHPNuke Image Gallery Latest Module(registration required). The latest veruion of this phpnuke image gallery is v0.6.3 which was updated on March 14th 2007 by Dariush Molavi (dari). Installation guide or tutorial for phpnuke image gallery:

Once you download the release you want, you can upload it to your hosting account using the File Manager tool or via FTP.

Here is a short step-by-step guide how to upload the file using the File Manager tool:

1. Go to your cPanel - File Manager tool
2. Click on the yellow folder icon next to public_html
3. Click on Upload files

Once the file is up, you need to go to the File Manager (at your cPanel) and to unpack (extract) the file in the desired folder.

How to install PHPNuke Image Gallery, once you have the files uploaded

* Create a new database from the cPanel ? MySQL Databases Area.
* Add a username from the cPanel ? MySQL Databases Area and add it to the database.

Open in your browser the following URL: http://yourdomain/gallery2/install/ (provided that you have not changed the name of the gallery2 folder)

Follow the instructions:

1. Select the Language you want and press Begin Installation.
2. Go to your cPanel - File Manager and select the Create New File
3. Name the file: login.txt. Click on the file and select to edit it from the right side of your screen.
4. Paste the code from the Step 2 install instructions at the gallery installation.
5. Click Save on the Editor and then click on Authenticate me at the Installation process.
6. Press Continue till you reach step 3.
7. Select Standart Installation and press Continue to step 4
8. At the Directory Path box, you will be asked to create a folder for the gallery 2 files. You need to go to the folder of gallery2 under your account and to click on create a new folder. Name it g2data and click on Save.
9. Continue to step 5 where you will need to type the database information:

Database Type: MySQL
Database Hostname: localhost
DB username: the username that you created. (the name of the user for the DB you created. Please note that it gets the user prefix. For example if you add a database, called 'gall' and your cpanel username is 'uname' the full name of the database is uname_gall)
DB password: the password for the username.
DB name: username_database (Same rules as the username)
Table Prefix : g2_
Column prefix: g_

10. Click Save and continue to step 6
11. Fill in your admin login details here and Click Save and continue to next step.
12. Continue to step 8.
13. Continue to step 9.
14. Click on Activate Selected Module at the bottom of the page
15. Continue to step 10.
16. Continue to step 11.
17. Click on Go to my Gallery. Installation is completed.
