  Pre Ordering Games Nightmare !!

I recently Pre ordered Crysis from Play.com 2 weeks in advance of its official release date in the UK being 16 November 2007.

I Know its only the 19th, but I still haven't received the game and the game is being currently played by thousands, yet I walked into the local Super stores to see it on the shelves for sale !! I wasn't very happy !!

What is the point of actually pre ordering games ?  Many companies advertise the fact that you can pre order games with them, Play.com being one of them. Its very frustrating when something like this happens and what really finished it off was when I logged into my account on Play.com it said I had to wait an astonishing 21 days before I could file a complaint of lost in the post !! I was disgusted.

This is the first time I have used the Pre Order service on any website for games and it will defiantly be the last.

Do you have a bad experience to share ? or have you had totally the reverse service that I have ? If so post your comments !

 Play.com don't even make it easy for me to contact them, I looked around the site for 10 minutes and still couldn't find a contact email or phone number, I guess I will have to wait the 21 Days, I cant afford to go and buy it again and then send the Pre ordered one back either, so I guess I just have to wait to play the Game of the year !

Hi, yes my experience with play.com is terrible, like yours. I ordered the Witcher, it never arrived, was forced to wait 21 days, so I emailed them and stated that they should send a replacement, and because I was so mad at having to wait that long while all my mates were enjoying the game (bought from high street) I added if that one didn't arrive either I would never shop with play.com again. I just kinda assumed play.com would send the second copy by registered post or some sort of more secure method, since it was their last chance to impress me :) But no, what happens, the second one is sent out using the same method as before, and that one goes missing too. Well, it hasn't been entirely 21 days again on the second copy but almost. There's little chance of it turning up now. I am going to get a refund and never shop with them again.

Actually it was not all that bad, let me explain... I placed my pre-order for NFS: Pro Street right at the beggining of October 07 well before its release, same with Crysis although that was about 2 weeks later.

The NFS: Pro Street got it's launch date put back till after Crysis was released, for some reason EA then decided that my purchase was not allowed and tried telling me I had to re-purchase, which I can tell you I wasn't happy about, I then showed them all my receipts and acknowledgements, they then sent me a code that added this game to my EA Download Manager and also gave me a full refund as well!

The Crysis pre-order went smooth as anything! I even got loads of extra's with it like access to the MP Beta, a 24 pre playable SP Demo. I also was able to play on Crysis the night before actual release day and completed it by release date lol now we are just pwning the MP side lol

In my experience then, if you are going to pre-order, don't go for CD's that get delivered (or not is some cases) go for Direct Downloads... Especially now with 8MB/4MB Download available!

Sent something back a few weeks ago and still waiting for a refund but can't find an address anywhere on the website (currently lost my voice so calling on the customer service phone number is pretty much impossible for the time being).
