instrumentation writes The extension can perform speedtest of broadband connections and basic network diagnostics
A new version (ver 1.1) is available now. It is still waiting for Mozilla review. You can get it from http://extensionholic.com/speedtest.html.
The version 1.1 added a new diagnostic feature. When Firefox fails to load a webpage, the extension will automatically check whether Internet conenction is working or not. You can also use network troubleshooting tools (e.g., ping and traceroute etc) to check the websites. Try to type a random domain name(e.g., qwqwqwq121212.com) to see what this means ...
This extension adds an item called 'Broadband Speed Test and Diagnostics' to the Tools Menu in FireFox.
It performs the following tasks:
- Display your public IP address and your public domain name
- Perform download and upload speed tests
If you have troubles with your broadband connection, it can:
- Troubleshoot and isolate problems by performing a couple of diagnostic tests (NIC card, local gateway, DHCP server, DNS server, web site)
- Display local IP configurations (private IP address, MAC address, default gateway, DNS server, DHCP server, routing table, ARP table, active connections)
The diagnostic and configuration display features only work on Windows.
Works with:
-
Firefox: 1.5 – 2.0.0.*

The coolest feature about this plugin is when you mistype a url or when your internet connection goes down. Very useful. |
