Ubisoft Announce Far cry 2 To Be Released

Posted on Friday, July 27, 2007 @ 09:27 by admin

So it looks like Ubisoft are going to release Far cry 2 after releasing a teaser site for everyone. Far cry was a game that came from no where and stunned everyone with the amazing graphics and game play some 3 years ago. Ubisoft will launch Far cry 2 around Spring 2008 for PC.

The original Far Cry won PC Gamers' Action Game of the Year Award in 2004. Since then the combined instalments of the Far Cry brand has gathered critical acclaim and numerous awards, and sold over 3 million units.

Most people think that Crysis will be taking over from Far cry but in fact Crysis is developed by Crytek and Far cry is made by Ubisoft.

Quoted by Ubisoft:
Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence,” declared John Parkes, EMEA marketing director at Ubisoft. “We are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the FPS genre landscape.”

Whilst I absolutely loved Far cry both single player and multiplayer I will defiantly be reporting on the progress of Far cry 2 here at Clan Themes.

Far cry 2 also has there forums up as well which is a great sign of things to come !  Jack Carver Rules !

Funny you should mention that, i just found a magazine article on the specs article taken from a Australian PC magazine image

ITS ALL ABOUT THE PENTIUMS

So it all comes down to the burning question:
What system specs is Far cry 2 aimed at?
"We've been thinking about that since the beginning," says Guay. "I want to make sure that someone who has DX9 card can play it, and as far as the CPU is concerned, it can run on a single core processor, but it's going to require a very powerful CPU. There's less compromises that you can make there because, in a sense, you can always turn down the graphics quality, but i don't want to remove the game play. I want the experience to be consistent, but we can bring down a lot of the graphic quality, and on a higher end PC using hardware that hasn't come out yet, Im not to worried. Im pretty sure that a very high-quality experience will be had on DX10 video card, like a 8800 or something like that, with a duel-core processor, and we'll accommodate quad-core as well."
And as for RAM?
"Because our game is constantly streaming the open world, it'll obviously be optimized prior to shipping, but we'll manage under 2GB for sure. I'm hoping that we can support 1GB. I'm hoping".

So hopefully majority of people should be able to play it

I think the first Far cry for its time, was unbelievable probably the first game with outstanding gameplay and graphics, but im not sure you can say far cry 1 is better until Far cry 2 is released !
