PHP Web Host - Quality Web Hosting For All PHP Applications

Finding the right Web Host for your website

Finding the best host for your website.

There are just millions of resources on the internet that provide quality information for finding the right web host for your site.  Just a few short tips to get you started.

  1. Think about the requirements your host will need to meet and not just for the first month.  What about the long term?  Do you one day expect to expand and can your host provide the resources you may need in the future?  Your need to map out a plan for your website.  Its a good idea to review their hosting packages carefully to check for bandwidth, hard drive space, and certain other needs such as PHP, MYSQL Database support.
  2. Shop the market.  Even when you think you have found the best host it is a good idea to bookmark your favorites and keep shopping.  When shopping for a host I usually try to pick my favorite five and compare them against each other.
  3. Do your homework on your top favorites.  Use the great resources the internet provides as your cheat sheet.  Such sites as Web Hosting Talk Forums and Hosting Review are excellent information resources.

Some things I have learned through quite a few host switches
  1. They are no fun and not something you want to do often.
  2. Doing your homework on a host will save you a load of headache down the road.
  3. Be careful of the big shocker packages.  There always seems to be a catch with those.  (ex Unlimited Hard Drive Space).  Be sure to read their TOS (Terms of Service) and find that catch not mentioned in the big print.
  4. Shopping for the cheap host is not a good idea!  Shop for quality of service.  You might pay only $1 a month, but that might also be how long it takes them to answer one of your support questions!

I've been hosting clan sites now for almost two years. I've also been an avid gamer since 1997, when I started playing the Tom Clancy series (Rainbow Six,Rogue Spear, old school games hehe) on MSN games. I'm not trying to advertise my service here as I already pay for an ad at the top of each page. But I would like to let you guys in on a little secret with those "Top Web Hosts" sites. Those are all paid advertising which sometimes cost more than advertising on google, msn and yahoo. Floppy is right on a few things as far as really cheap hosting and the so called"unlimited bandwidth/disk space deals" . Everybody pays for bandwidth it's not free they just hope each client does not use there allowed resources(overselling in web hosting terms) and if you do they will tell you to upgrade your account or leave. On the disk space side there are few companies that boast they use "server clusters" which basically is multiple servers sharing the same hard drives. Then they tell you all they have to do is add more hard drives? since when are 149 gig scsi hard drives free? I thought they were around 250USD each last time I checked. Anyways the average web site only uses around 200Mb of disk space and rarely goes over 5Gb of bandwidth. For gaming sites you wouldn't need more space and bandwidth because you don't need to host files, scripts, patches because the big sites do that for you fileplanet, fileshack etc. We provide cPanel control panel with all our packages and we host our sites on Centos 4 Linux servers. Just my two cents and I hope this helps somebody.

You should submit articles to advertise your services. Thats what the submit news is for. To let others know what services you offer or specials you have going on blah blah.

Thanks for the comment
